Are you looking for viby pictures and a way to capture moments without getting distracted by your phone? Do you need that little extra encouragement to go out and see the world? I was too and I couldn't be happier with the pictures I have now!

How And Why I Started
I've been trying to move away from my phone more and more as I put more effort into enjoying life and being more present. I've always struggled with insecurities when it comes to photos and noticed a lot of people around me seem to as well. I've never really loved editing photos and I find it's a quick and easy way of finding flaws and can be a slippery slope to a negative place. Because of all of this, I had really slowed down with taking photos of moments I really wish I had a way of remembering.
After doing a bunch of research I bought myself a Kodak Ektar H35N, an affordable, reusable plastic film camera that shoots half frame, meaning I can buy a roll of film and get twice as many photos out of it. Im living in a 50% off film world and im lovin’ it! I've written a full review of the camera here if you are interested in picking up your own film camera.
I've noticed that my friends and family seem to be much more comfortable when im taking photos on film. The photos I get now are much more candid and capture our moments in a way that feels like its replicating my actual memories. Photos are now something fun to take and be a part of now that a phone isn't involved.
Now that I have been taking photos on film for almost a year, I have so many pictures of people, places and things that I love! There are so many film stocks to choose from with no need to colour correct and edit your photos. I also really enjoy sending my film rolls in to get processed and then getting a beautiful bundle of photos of all my favourite memories in the last few months.
So, Should You Get Into Film Photography This Weekend?
Let’s break down the pros and cons of trying out film photography:
Pros
Photos feel more precious.
You don't instantly start analysing your pictures.
Your pictures are vibey and the colour looks great.
People generally enjoy being photographed on film.
Film is available at a lot of different stores and easily accessible online.
No photo editing needed.
The tactile and analogue camera feels special and fun.
Cons
Easy to forget to develop your film.
Can be a little expensive but cheaper options are available.
If you love the idea of capturing memories that look and feel like a dream, look into grabbing a film camera (check out my review of the Kodak Ektar H35N if you're looking for a place to start).
