Are you looking for a cheaper alternative to going and getting your nails done? Maybe you’re trying to stop biting your nails. Or maybe you just want to make your nails look nice. Well you’ve come to the right place! 

How And Why I Started

Back in 2019, I decided I want to stop biting my nails. The gross tasting solutions or just choosing to stop, wasn’t enough to shake this habit I’d had since before I can remember. I thought that maybe if I looked after them, invested my time into the ritual of making them look nice, it would make me feel bad for ruining my hard work.

This turned out to be so much more effective than I could have imagined! I had completely underestimated how much I love colourful, sparkly things. Now painting my nails is self expression and a fun way to experiment with colour.

I’ve also fallen in love with the ritual of spending a few hours of my weekend to do my nails and nothing else. I try to set aside at least 3 hours for me to do a full set of nails, usually while watching a tv show or movie. This forces me to just sit down and not worry about doing any chores.

So, Should You Paint Your Nails This Weekend?

Pros

• Forces you to sit down and relax.

• You get to look at your pretty nails for the next few weeks.

• Helps to break the habit of biting your nails.

• A creative outlet - even if you don't think you are the creative type.

• Keeps your nails strong and less chance of breakage, letting your nails grow longer.

• Feeling a little 'done up' and special.

• You are making time for self care

Cons

• Takes a few hours.

• Can't do much with your hands while waiting to dry.

• Takes some concentration and patience.

• Your workplace or school might not allow nail polish.
